Is God Real?

​Is God real? We intend to make this answer simple. Yes, God is real, and we offer the evidence below for consideration.

People all over the world are crying out for a breakthrough. Whether it’s for healing, a financial issue, a family situation, or even major changes for people groups, governments, and nations, we are all looking for change—change that only God can provide. This need for a breakthrough is what led GODSPEED Magazine to publish our January Breakthrough Issue.

Deep down, we all know how much this world needs a savior. It’s more evident every time we turn on the news and see disease, political turmoil, oppression, unmet physical needs, anger, hatred, and violence. Much of mankind looks at the state of the world and wonders:
Does God exist?

If so, is there any proof that God exists?

Proof of God Through Archaeology

Faith is not easy. In light of the world’s difficulties, most of us would be thrilled to see some evidence of God. Most of us want to believe that there is a God who loves us and is going to save us from all of the trouble, pain, and suffering. However, many have written off the Bible due to a supposed lack of archaeological confirmation for the Biblical accounts of history. Some reports even claim to have disproven Biblical accounts. But what if there were proof of the  Bible’s historical accuracy? What if, as is often the case, those earlier archaeological interpretations are wrong?

That very thing has happened many times over the last 200 years. It was thought that there were no surviving manuscripts of the Bible from around the time the Bible was written. This led to all kinds of conjecture and theory that the accounts given in the Gospels were cleverly crafted stories written ​by people hundreds of years after the events were supposed to have taken place. Now we know that there are manuscripts which date back to at least 130 AD, and one Book of Mark manuscript that dates as early as 85 AD. There are approximately 24,000 ancient New Testament manuscripts known to exist today, far surpassing any other historical document.

​Many other archaeological discoveries have been made that confirm the historical reality of Biblical accounts. From David’s kingdom to Hezekiah’s tunnel to the rule of Pontius Pilate, over and over we witness Biblical accounts—accounts that were once disputed by secular scholars—being confirmed by the physical evidence. The latest such discovery is what very well could be the home of Elisha, an Old Testament prophet who was active in his ministry from 892-832 BC. Proof that God Exists Comes Through Miracles

Proof that God exists is also very present in the happenings of today’s world—it comes in the form of miracles. God often uses verifiable medical miracles to reveal Himself to people. GODSPEED Magazine’s October 2018 Healing Issue reports on scientifically verified miracles such as one man’s MRIs that reveal nerve damage—nerve damage that multiple neurosurgeons confirm should leave the man paralyzed—yet he has no trouble walking after attending a healing service at a Christian church. But is that enough to convince most people of the existence of God? What if someone were to rise from the dead? Would that be enough proof for God?

That’s exactly what happened in January of 2015. A teenage boy was medically dead for approximately one hour. Doctors and rescue professionals made it to the boy and spent 45 minutes trying to revive him, with no success at all. No signs of life were present the entire time. Then a woman of strong Christian faith walked into the room and cried out to God for the boy’s life. What happened seconds later cannot be explained through natural or medical processes, according to the boy’s doctors. Read more…

The Power of Prayer

Far-reaching historical occurrences that demonstrate the power of prayer are well researched and documented. Notable examples include the Great Awakening, the Azusa Street Revival, and the Promise Keepers movement of the mid-90s, among others. Millions of lives were radically changed during these movements, as a strong spiritual fervor swept across the nation—normally after a relatively small group of people dedicated themselves to intense seasons of prayer. Reports of miracles and other unexplainable phenomena are also fairly common when these prayer movements break out.

Many current examples of the power of prayer are found around the world, offering further evidence for the existence of God. In fact, a global Christian prayer movement has been building for the last 6 years, and it started right in the middle of the largest Muslim population in the world. Read more…
